Used Plate Shears

Plate shears (also called guillotine shears) are cutting steel plates. The sheet is being cut between a fixed and an adjustable knife in a precise line. The maximum length and material thickness depend on suitable plate shears.

When working with plate shears, the sheet is first aligned on the machine table. Then the sheet is being strained on the machine table by a downholder which is released through a foot pedal. The cut is being made by the adjustable upper knife that’s lowered on the fixed lower knife. It is important that there’s a crack or gap between the upper and lower knife. The smaller the crack or gap the more accurate is the cut. As well has to be taken into consideration that the power needed for the cut is getting higher the smaller the crack or gap of the plate shears.
